Week 41- Intentions of the heart

Image
WAZZAAAP 皆さん、 howzit going everybody. Making sure to get this email going because mama-sama wasn't happy I didn't send one last week.  Anyways I wanted to talk about the intentions we have. Recently when I've been doing missionary work I find myself wondering about my intentions. More specifically why I am doing missionary work. Now it's time to be brutally honest. I LOVE the people. I LOVE our friends and I LOVE helping them come closer to Christ. But I also catch myself having slightly misguided intentions while I do missionary work. My first and foremost reason why I am a missionary is of course to bring that joy and hope that comes with the gospel. But I also have thought while teaching or inviting people whether or not this will make me seem like a better missionary to others. “If this guy gets put on baptismal date I will look better to other people.” I want to clarify that this is NOT what motivates me to get up in the morning and not why I came out. But recent...

Week 39- Train To Failure Tom Platz Style

Aloha 皆さん、 Join da photo album fr https://photos.app.goo.gl/2tYzpjfjReZvcoCs7 In weightlifting in order to grow your muscles you have to lift weights in order to break your muscle fibers so that your body can create and build more muscle fibers over the now torn muscle fibers. This creates a slow but study process of tearing your muscle fibers to build new ones in order to get bigger muscles. Now the amount of muscle you grow depends mainly on two factors (not including sleep in this example). How hard you train, and how you eat. If you workout and after you workout eat junk and don't eat enough protein your body won't be able to recover and build more muscle to repair your body. Eating right is vital to the process of building muscle and giving your body the right fuel it needs in order to workout. But not only how you eat, but also how you train is extremely vital to muscle growth. One of the best ways to grow muscle is training to absolute failure. Pushing your muscles to ...

Week 38- It's like getting hit with a wombo combo

Aloha 皆さん、 Join the Google photo album! https://photos.app.goo.gl/2tYzpjfjReZvcoCs7 I'm writing this one way earlier than I usually do because I thought it'd be good to write everything super fresh. This is gonna be a long one BAHAHAHAA.  So I got transferred. I'm now in Kure, Hiroshima. When I got the news I was pretty down not gonna lie. I LOVED Fukuoka with all my heart. I loved the friends we got to meet. I absolutely loved all the wonderful amazing missionaries I got to work with closely everyday. And I loved the members. Don't get me wrong I was hyped to go somewhere new but I truly felt like I left a part of my heart in Fukuoka.  The days leading up to the transfer and the day of were interesting. Everyone was telling me how inaka (countryside) kure was. When I imagine Inaka I think of rice paddy fields, cute oba-chans and oji-chans, and beautiful scenery. You know, like something out of a Ghibli film. Basically an extremely romanticized version of Japan LOL. B...

Week 37- Linear Comparisons

WHATS UP BROTHER!☝️ Join da Google photo album fr! https://photos.app.goo.gl/2tYzpjfjReZvcoCs7 Not gonna lie I'm a little down with transfers coming up. I think I'm going to be heading out from Fukuoka which is a real shame. After lots of work a lot of things started happening! But that's for highlights. Today I wanted to talk about comparisons.  We've all heard the phrase “Comparison is the thief of joy.”  I kinda agree with that. But I want to add a little bit. Comparison is the thief of joy, when we compare ourselves to others. But when we look inwards and compare ourselves to who we were before then we can look to improve. We are able to see our growth and also our shortcomings.  Life is never us against other people. It's ourselves against who we used to be. God will never look at us and then look at another person and say “I love you less because (blank) is better looking than you are.” WE are LOVED for who WE are. God only asks us to improve. To be better t...
