Week 19- Running out of email titles

 Aloha 皆さん、

I don't know if the title is still the same on my email as it is on my Google docs but I am definitely running out of ideas for email titles. That or my brain is running on empty. I thought about not writing an email this week because I didn't feel like it but that's how I would stop writing emails altogether. And I know some people would kill me for that. I'm gonna start this one off with one of the weekly highlights I'm a little proud of. So we were hanging out with this other companionship and things ended up getting a little heated between the two of them. They ended up going back and forth about something and it escalated real fast. One of the Elders kicked our table at the other Elder and they both just got up ready to fight. And if you don't know anything about mission rules basically if you throw a punch at another person that's a one way ticket home. So both of them were just egging each other on and I had already gotten in the middle of both of them trying to get them to stop. A) because one of them is a pretty big guy and the other one not so much so it wouldn't be much of a fight, and B) because I don't want either of them going home. Eventually I got the smaller Elder to stop egging on his companion and got them both to sit down. Now I don't know own guys but I really gotta hand it to my elementary kid self because being a peer mediator definitely helped out😎💀 Nah but for real though I was like this gotta change and basically just mediated a companion inventory session for the both of them. So that they could not only work out this problem but also communicate with each other any issues they had so that things don't blow up in the future. But honestly it was super eye opening and a lot of fun to help them walk through their problems and really just communicate about everything. It made me super happy to see them make up and promise to continue to communicate with each other and work on their weaknesses. Honestly it also helped me to remind myself to think about things from a different perspective. Whether that be thinking of my own actions or how I make other people feel. I know that's definitely something I still need to work on which is great! But I don't know though, I hope that's not Heavenly Father telling me I need to be a marriage counselor or something, it's not right? Nah who knows but I was also super grateful to get messages from the both of em thanking me and how much it really helped. Communication will always help to stop any problems you may have with anyone. At least that's what I've been learning for the most part. Even though I'm pretty bad at communicating imo most of the time. Anywhoosies I thought that was cool though, if you want something to take away just communicate with whoeverz trust it'll work.

Weekly highlights:
-Zone Leader Comp Study
-Exchanges
-Bye Snow!
-My gas training
-Trying more of the not so new foods

Zone Leader Comp Study:
Basically this happened because my companion is a District Leader but kinda doesn't know what he's doing but also doesn't listen to advice. He tries his best though but the Zone Leaders texted us saying they were gonna do a combined companion study with us which I was hyped for because it was a good opportunity to learn a lot. Elder Peña though was not so excited, and very worried about what they were gonna talk about. But it was a super good study session either way. Basically it was more for Elder Peña and I reaped the benefits because I was his companion. They really wanted to sit down with him and help walk him through his responsibilities and go over things that may have been miscommunicated. They went over all this different stuff about what makes a good leader during a mission and how he could better fulfill his responsibilities. I got to chime in a lot because they asked me for a lot of outsider input which I hope helped Elder Peña. But they talk a lot about communication (see the theme of this email LOL) and how the simple things really make a difference within the district. And how the amount of effort and communication a DL puts forth the more unified and motivated other people will be. They also talked more in depth about specific responsibilities and things he is in charge of but honestly I took a LOT away from it. Which I'm glad about because it may help me in the future.

Exchanges:
We had Exchanges again which was super awesome. Got to be with Elder Lloyd this time. It was super hype. I was leading out the area again and honestly Elder Lloyd is super chill, although he makes too many tiktok references for my taste. His companion says tiktok is his personality which is uhhhhh just something I should definitely keep in mind when I get back. Anyways he's a great teacher though, our teaching styles are very different but I was able to adapt and we had an awesome plan of salvation lesson with a family we are teaching! It was super cool to see how different missionaries go about their day and honestly was a good refresher as well.

Bye Snow!
Just thought it was really important to share that Utah is not snowing anymore AND I COULDN'T BE HAPPIER. I feel so very blessed and it was a BIG highlight of my week.

My GAS Training:
Super cool but for district council I had to give a training which I've done before but I was super proud of this one. My topic was about the section finding people where they are in PMG. Inside the section though they had a lot of questions that missionaries could utilize to better understand the people they are talking to and better relate to them and apply gospel principles to their life. Simple questions like “what brings you joy?” I talked about how we as missionaries can better use the questions and practice making a bigger impact on people's lives by simply getting to know and understand them. Everyone hyped my training up after too saying it was really good which I was super happy about because I put a lot of effort into it. For missionaries out there looking for something to study though I strongly recommend PMG chapter 9 (and chapter 6)!

Trying more not so new foods:
So I never thought I was a picky person but one day I decided as a child I didn't like cheese. So like Mac n cheese, grilled cheese type of thing. But you know grew out of that for the most part except Mac n cheese and grilled cheese. But I guess being stateside has its perks for a bit. I had Mac n cheese and grilled cheese recently and can say I'm officially over my childlike phase of not liking cheese. Kinda silly but I thought it was funny. I will never eat kraft Mac n cheese though that stuff is NASTY. But I also got to try Tikka Masala, (Indian Curry) which was super good with the Naan bread. But trying all sorts of new stuff which is awesome! (If I already shared this sorry not sorry)

Oh! Also for those who are on my Google photos album. The “interesting” fit, yeah you know what I'm talking about. I made the mistake of allowing my district to buy a fit for me at DI (basically goodwill) and promising to wear whatever they buy. I think I rocked it though but yeah that wasn't me coming out or anything just wanted to make that clear LOL.

Aight das all for today, shoots!!
