YESSAH BLESSAH THANK YOU, EVERYONE, FOR WAITING. YOU'VE BEEN WAITING A LONG TIME AS HAVE I BUT I. AM. BACK.
It was hard, it took forever, and there were a lot of issues. But finally, I am in Japan! There was so much I wanted to talk about but right now I have no time so I'll save all the deep thoughts and life lessons for next week's email when I have more time!
The story for the week I'll give you is coming to Japan! It was a long flight to Haneda and I was so tired. It honestly felt like forever! I was so ready to start my mission! I finally got to Haneda and it was supposed to be simple: find the members of the church to help me ship my luggage to Fukuoka, go to the next gate where I fly from Haneda to Fukuoka. Board the plan, land, and get picked up. Well, I found the members easily and they helped me ship off my stuff (still don't have my luggage but ( ´∀` )b) I boarded the bus to go to the terminal with them and found my gate. I got some Ramen to eat while I waited but then some thunder and lightning came. So the flight was delayed, which kinda sucked but oh well. So finally when we got on the plane everything was great! Then mid flight they were like welp the Fukuoka airport is closed so we are going to this other airport. I was low-key asleep so I didn't hear that so when I got off and realized we weren't in Fukuoka I was surprised! I didn't know what to do and I REALLY wanted to shower and sleep. I tried looking for a member of the church or someone in the airport but no one was there! And everyone was going to these buses the airline had for us to go to Fukuoka. So I followed them and asked (everything is happening in Japanese btw) if the bus was going to Fukuoka and she said yes. So I went inside. The bus drove for about an hour until it stopped at the first stop. I didn't see a hotel nearby so I stayed on. Another 10 or so minutes pass and it stops again and across the street Is Hakata station and a hotel. So I thought that the station was prominent enough for me to tell the church where I am and I could check into the hotel. (It's about 11:00pm) I check into the hotel okay and use the phone to call the mission office. Surprisingly they pick up and say:
“Fukuoka Mission, how can we help you?”
“あ、すみません私はエリス長老です”
“Ah Sorry I am Elder Ellis”
“Where. Are. You.”
“Ah sorry I am in the comfort hotel across Hakata station.”
After that the Office Elders came and helped me get a refund for the room and I went with them to their apartment and got some well deserved rest and a shower. There were a lot of issues but I was able to overcome them! Which brings me into my scripture!
1 Corinthians 10:13
13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.
I probably have shared this one before but I love it. God will never give us more than we can handle. And he will always provide us a way to bear the burden and a way to escape the temptations. While I've been home there's been highs but there were so many lows. More than I was prepared for. But when I turned to Christ the load was lighter and I was able to endure. Just like my trip here there will be many problems and bumps in the road but there will always be a way through Christ.
じゃ、till next time
