Week 44- Burdens made light + I became a Dad!

Aloha 皆さん、 Wazzap everybody. Not gonna lie I was NOT expecting this one like at all. I don't know what President was thinking but transfers went crazyyyy.  So Tuesday we had transfer announcements. My comp Elder Trail went to Miyazaki. It was sad to see him go. Bro was an OYM (streeting) beast and had so much missionary fire. I know he's gonna do good in Miyazaki. But it was also expected that he was going to transfer. What wasn't expected was President asking him if I was also there so he could talk to me. At first I was just like oh maybe I'm getting transferred somewhere else and they are gonna whitewash Kure (put two new missionaries in an area). Basically the conversation went like this: “Hey Elder Ellis” “Heyyyyyyy President, what's up?” “We wanted to ask you if you would continue to serve the lord as a District Leader?” “:0 uhhh yeah sure” “Wait, that's not all, we also wanted to ask if you would become a trainer as well?” “:0” “The double whammie, so y...

Week 43- Setbacks

Aloha 皆さん、 I'm Supa lazy this week and we went to miyojima today so lowkey got no time. so short email today but choke stuff is happening with transfers and so on so next one will be longer probably… Anyways I wanted to talk a little bit about setbacks this week. We had quite a bit of setbacks this week. With a baptism being postponed because the dad got sick and a friend lowkey freaking out on us it's been a tough week. But setbacks aren't permanent. It's so easy for us to be negative when we come face to face with setbacks, especially when it seems unfair. But if we focus on overcoming setbacks and working through them then we can overcome them instead of feeling self pity.  Highlights: -Seiya-kun -Yoshimoto -Transfers Seiya: So this week we had lessons with Seiya almost every single day to prepare him for baptism. It was honestly super cool to see him become more excited day by day! He's such an awesome kid and he always has so many awesome questions for us. Ho...

Week 42- A Hungry Missionary

Image
Aloha 皆さん、 Howzit everybody, hope you all are doing well. Had a crazy week and probably gonna have one crazier week too. But anyways.  This week during interviews my mission President had said something that I thought was super interesting. We were talking about the mission culture and how he wants to change it and he talked about those who are hungry and those who just merely want something to eat. People who are hungry/starving will go and make food, or find food. They won't be picky and they will put in the effort in order to quench their hunger. But when somebody merely just wants something to eat that effort won't be there. They don't care enough to put in all the effort to make food and more often than not they just want to eat a particular thing. He related that back to missionaries. Being a hungry missionary vs. just wanting to eat something. A hungry missionary will stop at nothing to make sure the work gets done, they will do the work and won't let anything ...
