Week 42- A Hungry Missionary
Aloha 皆さん、
Howzit everybody, hope you all are doing well. Had a crazy week and probably gonna have one crazier week too. But anyways.
This week during interviews my mission President had said something that I thought was super interesting. We were talking about the mission culture and how he wants to change it and he talked about those who are hungry and those who just merely want something to eat. People who are hungry/starving will go and make food, or find food. They won't be picky and they will put in the effort in order to quench their hunger. But when somebody merely just wants something to eat that effort won't be there. They don't care enough to put in all the effort to make food and more often than not they just want to eat a particular thing. He related that back to missionaries. Being a hungry missionary vs. just wanting to eat something. A hungry missionary will stop at nothing to make sure the work gets done, they will do the work and won't let anything stop them. Whereas the other missionary who just merely wants to eat will let little things stop them, they won't be as driven. They won't have that desire or motivation to work. He had shared that he feels the mission isn't hungry enough. And how just last week a missionary had told him they couldn't do much work because of the rain. Now that got me thinking, “how hungry am I?” While I definitely won't let rain stop me from going out and doing work I don't think I would classify myself as a starving missionary. Maybe somewhere in between (imo). But it's definitely something I want to work on. And I want to ask you, whatever you are doing in life. Are you hungry? Or just want to eat?

Became a trio:
So this is my second time in the mission where I'm covering two areas and the third time I've been in a trio (at least temporarily). So I was feeling pretty good about the week. Last Sunday we had an awesome lesson with Yoshimoto and I was really warming up to Kure. Ya know just when you start really REALLY loving an area you get that call from prez. Not even gonna lie my heart dropped to my stomach. The conversation went sum like this.
“Moshi moshi, hey Boss Kaichou what's up?”
“Oh Elder Ellis I just wanted to wish you a happy new year”
“Oh…..oh okay, well thanks!” *instant relief*
“Yeah but that's not the reason I called. Actually, I need your help with something.”
BRUH. I didn't say that but I definitely thought it. Anyways Long story short one of the Elders in our district went home for mental health reasons so that left our awesome DL alone in Saijo. He told us that he'd be staying with us and we would become a trio over the two areas. I was pretty relieved because I thought I was gonna get ET (EmergencyTransferred) to a different area but nope still in Kure, and now Saijo for two weeks. But yeah! Asay 長老 is awesome and it's been pretty fun so far :)
BAP DATE?!:
YESSUH. okay little bit of explanation. In Saijo they have this awesome Part member family. The two parents were reactivated and are working on getting endowed in the temple and they have a 16 year old son! On our first day as a Trio we had a lesson with him about baptism and he wanted to get baptized! Now here comes the crazy part. Before that lesson we had,the Saijo Elders had only taught him ONCE about the plan of salvation. So that was his SECOND lesson. What's even crazier is the boy and his family wants him to get baptized this next Sunday! If it wasn't for his family and his willingness to learn I don't think I would've been as comfortable setting such a fast baptismal date (and the fact that other than next Sunday it would've been super hard for them). But I really think we can do it! We have to teach him pretty much everyday till Friday but we will do our best! Please pray for Seiya-kun!
Lots of travel:
So because we have two areas we are doing a lot of travel by train. Tried to ask the APes for the car but they said no RIP. What's worse (but kinda cool) is we have to go to Hiroshima (out of our district) to get to our other area. We've gone back and forth between areas like 3 times BAHAHAA. Nothing we could really do about it but it's been really nice. It's about an hour and a half of travel and you just kind of get to see a lot of Japan and study on the train. It's been great!
Yoshimoto:
Yoshimoto has been great. Slowly but surely he's progressing and working through any doubts and problems he has. We still have a lot of things we need to work through but I really think if I stay in Kure next transfer we can work close towards baptism. I'm so excited to see him progress more it's just been super awesome!
Anyways Das all for this week! Oh also I buzzed my head a couple weeks ago if you neva notice. Das why u join da Google photo album fr
