Week 78- What Would You Say To Your Son?

 Aloha 皆さん、

Recently I've been thinking about winter in Japan. Back when it was winter and I was in Kure I remember that all I could think about was man. I'd much rather be sweating and in the heat than freezing my butt off knocking on these houses.

Bruh, I was so wrong dawg😭

Not that it hasn't been hot for a FAT minute in Japan but I've definitely been feeling it since I got to Kumamoto. It's been a big hit on not only me but my companions' motivations to go outside (willingly and happily). Which is why recently I've been thinking a lot more about the “why” and the desires in my heart. But recently as we were trying to talk to other missionaries about how they do it one missionary had a really good response (in my opinion).

My companion was asking this missionary about how he finds the motivation to go outside in the heat. The missionary asked him a simple question.

“長老, if this was your son asking you, what would you tell him?”

I don't think my companion like that answer too much😂

But I think the reason goes back to because it hits us right in the heart. We KNOW what the answer is. We know that it's not about us, or the heat. I think we both knew, we would tell our sons.

“Get to work, forget about the heat, and just go and do it. The blessings and everything else will come after.”

It's easy to say that and of course to think about it. But the hard part is actually just doing it.

Anyways, I'll continue to try and do my best to just do what I know I should be doing. But please pray that Kumamoto gets some Hawaii trade winds or some big clouds so it becomes cooler otherwise I don't know how happy I can still be while I leave the AC to go into the sauna that's Kumamoto.

Highlights:

-Zone Conference
-Service in Yatsushiro again!
-冒険 (adeventure) to chopper and sanji

Zone Conference:

Had Zone Conference and it was really fun. We did the training on our desires and reasons why and a lot of the missionaries really liked it. It also coincidentally lined up with the mission president's training about joy. He talked about the difference between joy and fun. Which can be really hard to differentiate but was a really good training! Also Kumamoto's members kill it for Zone Conference lunch. We had burgers, nachos, this fire soup and a bunch of other treats. So blessed, all the Japanese members are goths at making food for us. Always so grateful.

Service in yatsushiro again:

We got the opportunity to do tservuce in the nearby city that had a massive flood. It was a lot of fun again. But this time we had to do more hardwork. The house we went to had a big garage like shed. It was filled with a bunch of heavy stuff that was water logged and a bunch of tools and materials that was extremely rusted. Cleaning it out was hard but in Japan we don't really get a lot of service opportunities so it was a great opportunity to get some work in.

冒険 (adventure) to chopper and sanji:

I wanted to go to more one piece statues within our area so we decided to do some missionary work on the way there. Chopper was really close to this big park and we were planning on going and talking to people there but while taking pictures a foreigner came up and we started talking to him. He was super cool and was visiting from Poland. He really liked anime and we ended up talking and walking with him for a while. He was catholic as a child but wasn't really interested in religion but we talked about a lot of deep stuff. He wasn't going to be in Japan for long but it was super cool to talk to him and he said he would talk to some missionaries when he gets back! Another day we went down to sanji and tried visiting a ton of members along the way. The bike was only supposed to be like 45 minutes but with the member visits it ended up taking 4 hours! It was cool though because we talked to a ton of people along the way and overall was a blast going further out from our area to places missionaries wouldn't usually go. Overall ton of fun and got to see a bit more of Japan. I'm 3/10 on the statues but I'll get 10/10 (i hope)
